DJI, the renowned leader in drone technology, has introduced its latest consumer drone, the Flip, just four months after the launch of the Neo. Weighing in at 249 grams, this fully foldable camera drone is set to hit the U.S. market on Tuesday, retailing at $439. The Flip promises to redefine aerial photography with its impressive capabilities and features that combine simplicity with high-end photo quality.
The Flip stands out with its ability to shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second and 100fps slow-motion video, catering to both photography enthusiasts and professionals. It also boasts a camera that captures 48-megapixel shots with up to 4x zoom, delivering vibrant and detailed images. This new addition to DJI's lineup continues to blur the lines in their consumer portfolio by merging the "simplicity of the DJI Neo with the stunning photo capabilities of the DJI Mini."

Despite being notably heftier than the Neo, which weighs 135 grams, the Flip offers a substantial battery life with a listed 31 minutes on a single charge. This allows users to maximize their shooting time without frequent interruptions. Moreover, the Flip's price positions it closer to the Mini 3, priced at $419, rather than the more economical Neo at $199.
One of the innovative features in the Flip is its new Local Data Mode. This functionality allows the drone to disconnect from the internet while in flight, akin to a smartphone's airplane mode. This feature enhances privacy and security for users who prefer their flying experience to remain entirely offline.
