Hyperline Revolutionizes Billing Solutions with $10 Million Boost

Hyperline
, a promising French startup, has secured an additional $10 million investment from Index Ventures, marking a significant milestone for its innovative billing platform. The company, which has been developing its next-generation billing system for the past two years, aims to simplify and automate billing operations for businesses of all sizes. This funding round strengthens Hyperline’s position as a key player in the billing sector.

The platform Hyperline has built caters to various billing needs, including recurring subscriptions, one-off purchases, and usage-based billing. Despite not processing payments directly, it manages the entire billing process for the customer. By doing so, Hyperline acts as an interface for payment providers like Stripe, GoCardless, and Airwallex. The startup's CEO, Lucas Bédout, explained their unique approach:

“We manage the entire value chain except payments … However, we do something that’s pretty cool about payments. We position ourselves as an orchestrator. Our customers don’t use payment processors directly,” – Lucas Bédout.

Hyperline's platform addresses the time-consuming nature of billing operations that companies face daily, especially those with over 200-300 customers. The startup is testing automated solutions to alleviate these burdens. Bédout elaborated on this challenge:

“With billing, what’s time-consuming, is really the day-to-day operations. Every day, when you have more than 200 or 300 customers, someone has to go and check that everything is correct,” – Lucas Bédout.

In addition to subscription management, Hyperline has integrated other pricing models into its platform. The company currently employs 14 individuals but plans to expand its team to 25 in the near future to support its growing operations and development efforts.

Hyperline's clientele includes notable companies such as Lokki, Malou, ScorePlay, Gladia, and Formance. Most of these clients generate between €3 and €10 million in revenue, showcasing the platform’s appeal to businesses seeking efficient billing solutions.

“The majority of our customers today generate between €3 and €10 million in revenue,” – Lucas Bédout.

The company's journey began with a desire to improve upon existing tools like Chargebee. However, as Bédout noted, the landscape has evolved considerably:

“At the beginning, we said to ourselves, we’ll look at the current tools like Chargebee, and we’ll do a little better than them. Except that 20% better is nice, but everything has changed so much that now it’s just different. Now, people are looking for automation, they don’t want to manually process invoices, send reminders, create quotes, etc.” – Lucas Bédout.
