Presidential Birthday Gala Sparks Attention in South Korea

An event initially planned to mark the 60th anniversary of South Korea's Presidential Security Service (PPP) has drawn widespread attention due to its unexpected transformation into a birthday celebration for President Yoon Suk-yeol. Scheduled for December 17, the event eventually took place on December 18, coinciding with President Yoon's birthday. The gala involved service members and police officers, who performed a unique musical tribute for the president.

Former Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun directed dozens of service members to prepare for the event, which required two months of practice. The performance included saluting both President Yoon and First Lady Kim Keon-hee. The service members sang popular songs with altered lyrics that praised the president, adding a personal touch to the celebration.

Kim Sung-hoon, deputy chief of the PPP, organized this high-profile event. To ensure a seamless execution, police officers involved in presidential security were also instructed to participate in the birthday gala. The PPP, however, declined to confirm its involvement, citing the classified nature of certain activities.

The event, attended by service members and police officers, was reported by Korean media, further highlighting its significance. The performance was a testament to the dedication and effort of those involved, showcasing their commitment through two months of preparation.
