Tata Electronics has acquired a 60% controlling stake in Pegatron Technology India, a strategic move aimed at bolstering its iPhone manufacturing capacity in the South Asian market. This acquisition comes less than a year after Tata Electronics took over Wistron's local business, signaling the company's aggressive expansion strategy in India. Pegatron, a key partner in assembling Apple products, operates an iPhone production plant near Chennai, in Tamil Nadu. This acquisition aligns with Tata Electronics' vision to enhance its manufacturing presence.
Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics, highlighted the strategic nature of this acquisition. Pegatron Technology India, now under Tata's control, is poised to play a critical role in the company’s growth trajectory. Tata Electronics is part of the larger Tata Group, known for its diverse business interests ranging from salt to software. With this acquisition, Tata Electronics aims to strengthen its foothold in technology-led manufacturing, particularly in the rapidly growing Indian market.
