Lee Si-an, a rising star in the world of K-pop and modeling, finds herself embroiled in a legal dispute with Leaders Entertainment, her agency, alongside personal health battles. Known for her participation in the survival shows Idol School and Produce 48, Lee's career trajectory took a turn when she joined the pre-debut girl group Happyface Girls in 2020. However, the group presumably disbanded in 2022, leading her to focus on modeling. In 2023, she signed with Leaders Entertainment, but recent developments have cast a shadow over her burgeoning career.
The controversy began when Lee allegedly informed Leaders Entertainment of her intention to terminate her exclusive contract, stating she would only work until October 21, 2024. Consequently, on January 21, 2024, Leaders Entertainment filed a lawsuit against her for breach of contract. The agency claims that they possess substantial evidence and have initiated legal proceedings.
"This is a violation of both her exclusive contract and the supplemental agreement extending her contract. Si-an's objections to the exclusive contract lack evidence." – Leaders Entertainment
The exclusive contract, initially set to expire in October 2024, was extended through a supplementary agreement signed in April 2024, pushing the expiration date to April 2026. Despite Lee's objections, the agency insists that her claims lack merit.
Parallel to her legal challenges, Lee Si-an has faced significant health concerns. She recently underwent surgery to remove a liver hemangioma after completing filming for Single's Inferno 4 in August 2023. The benign tumor posed potential risks if allowed to grow.
"If the hemangioma grows to over 10cm, we'll need to perform a major surgery, so remove it now if your schedule allows because it's at 6cm." – Doctor
The decision to proceed with surgery was influenced by medical advice due to the tumor's size. The procedure was deemed necessary to prevent future complications that could arise from further growth.
In sharing his own experiences with surgery, actor Kwon Sang-woo reflected on the physical and emotional toll such procedures can exact.
"I was feeling many things… I still have the scars on my belly," – Kwon Sang-woo
"I felt severe pain after the surgery." – Kwon Sang-woo
Despite these challenges, Lee Si-an remains a prominent figure primarily due to her appearances on notable K-pop platforms. Her transition from idol trainee to model has been met with both professional opportunities and personal hurdles.
