Ella Chen Returns to Malaysia for a Flavorful Chinese New Year Celebration

Ella Chen, the popular Taiwanese singer and actress, has returned to Malaysia to celebrate Chinese New Year with her family. This festive season has brought her back to her culinary roots, where she indulged in some of her favorite traditional dishes.

Upon her arrival, Chen wasted no time in satisfying her cravings, stating, “The first thing I do when I return to Malaysia for Chinese New Year is to eat prawn noodles.” This year, she took her taste buds on an adventure by trying prawn noodles with pork ribs for the first time. Alongside this dish, she also savored curry laksa with roasted pork. Both meals left a lasting impression on her, as she described them as “super delicious.”

Chen has been celebrating Chinese New Year for several days, sharing glimpses of her festivities on social media. She posted heartwarming photos of herself and family members participating in the traditional lo hei ceremony, a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. Additionally, she shared a cheerful video of her son, Daniel, playing with firecrackers, capturing the joyful spirit of the holiday.

In her posts, Chen expressed a fondness for traditional treats, sharing images of kueh and indulging in chendol. She explained her choice to eat chendol, noting its homophonic significance related to wealth. “During the new year, you must eat chendol because it will bring you 'more money'," she stated, reflecting her hopes for prosperity in the year ahead.

Although Chen currently resides in Taiwan with her husband, Malaysian businessman Alvin Lai, she takes every opportunity to reminisce about the food she left behind in Malaysia. Her nostalgic posts highlight her deep connection to her heritage and the importance of food in celebrating cultural traditions.

In her social media messages, she conveyed heartfelt wishes for everyone to embrace gratitude and positivity: "Wishing you all, accept everything, be grateful for everything, everything is the best."
