Barbie Hsu, a renowned Taiwanese actress, passed away on February 2 at 48 due to pneumonia complications from the flu. Her untimely demise occurred during a family trip to Japan over the Chinese New Year holiday. On February 5, her family members, including husband Koo Jun-yup, children Hsi-lin and Hsi-yueh, and sister Dee Hsu, accompanied her ashes back to Taiwan on a VistaJet private charter flight.
The flight departed from Haneda Airport and touched down at Taipei Songshan Airport at 3 PM. Barbie's ashes were carried in a cremation urn in her favorite color, pink. Dee Hsu confirmed her sister's return through a statement issued via her agency, emphasizing that the family managed all afterlife arrangements for Barbie.
"My sister's afterlife matters, including chartering the flight and other arrangements, were handled by the Hsu family. Everything was handled by the Hsu family and my husband Mike." – Dee Hsu
The Hsu family chose to inter Barbie's ashes at their home permanently, allowing Dee to converse with her sister frequently. Despite her emotional state, Dee expressed appreciation for the love and support received from fans.
Speculation arose when Barbie's ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, visited her Taipei mansion to pay his respects. He claimed responsibility for arranging transport for the ashes back to Taiwan. However, the Hsu family refuted these claims, asserting that they had organized all necessary arrangements.
An influencer further fueled the controversy by suggesting Xiaofei financed the private flight, which the Hsu family denied. In response to these assertions, Dee reiterated that the family's decisions had been independent and solely theirs.
