Snapchat+ Subscribers Get Creative with New AI-Generated Sticker Feature

Snapchat is enhancing its Snapchat+ subscription service by introducing AI-generated stickers for its users. This new feature allows Snapchat+ subscribers to create and send custom stickers that align with their messages in chats. The rollout of these additional features comes as part of Snapchat’s ongoing effort to expand its subscription service and attract more users. Currently, Snapchat boasts 14 million Snapchat+ subscribers, and this innovative tool serves as another strategy to bolster the social media network's revenue.

Snapchat+ has become an essential component of the company's financial strategy, contributing significantly to its bottom line. The unit has achieved an impressive "annualized revenue run rate of well over $500 million." By providing exclusive features like AI-generated stickers, Snapchat+ offers paying users novel ways to enhance their interactions, adding a layer of creativity to their chats. Despite not being powered by Snapchat's new AI model at this moment, the sticker feature represents a step forward in incorporating generative AI into the platform.

This launch follows closely on the heels of Snap's recent introduction of an AI text-to-image research model for mobile devices. This model is expected to play a pivotal role in powering future features such as AI Snaps and AI Bitmoji Backgrounds. While Snapchat isn’t alone in offering AI-driven sticker creation—Meta and Apple have also unveiled similar capabilities—it continues to innovate by planning more Snap Mode options. These options will eventually allow users to send self-destructing Snaps that disappear if left unviewed for a specified duration.

The new feature is currently available to Snapchat+ subscribers in the United States, offering them a fresh way to engage with friends by experimenting with generative AI. This move not only aligns with the growing trend of integrating AI technologies into social media platforms but also strengthens Snapchat’s position in a competitive market.
