Nine individuals tragically lost their lives after consuming dangerous alcoholic beverages at a gathering in Cianjur, West Java. The incident unfolded last Thursday and has since claimed victims aged between 29 and 55 from Pademangan Village. The fatal event stemmed from the consumption of drinks mixed with high-concentration ethanol, purchased online and combined by the victims themselves.
The gravity of the situation became apparent when fellow villagers discovered three bodies at home, raising alarm about the lethal consequences of the event. As investigations continue, Central Bogor Police have interrogated two individuals present at the site and the seller of the alcohol. Authorities also uncovered a jerry can container and a five-litre ethanol container at one victim's house, believed to be the location of the drinking event.

The victims had mixed their own alcoholic beverages using ethanol with a concentration as high as 96 percent. This potent mixture led to severe alcohol poisoning, which proved fatal for nine villagers. According to Septian, some victims succumbed to the effects in hospital, while others tragically died at home due to delayed medical intervention.

Among the 12 affected villagers, nine have passed away. The latest victim died in the early hours of Monday morning after his condition deteriorated. Currently, one person remains hospitalized in critical condition, while two others have been discharged.
