Carta Resolves Third Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Amidst Ongoing Scrutiny

Carta
, a prominent financial technology company, has confidentially resolved a lawsuit filed by former employee Alexandra Rogers without admitting liability. Rogers, who was dismissed less than two months after reporting alleged sexual harassment to HR, accused Chief Revenue Officer Jeff Perry of inappropriate conduct in 2023. The lawsuit settlement in January 2025 marks the third such resolution by Carta in San Francisco’s Superior Court involving allegations from former female employees.

Alexandra Rogers' complaint detailed incidents where she alleged that Perry groped her thigh and leg on two separate occasions. Despite these serious accusations, Perry denied any wrongdoing and countered with a defamation lawsuit against Rogers, which was settled in 2023. This recent settlement follows another legal action resolved in November 2023, brought forward by former account executive Amanda Sheets. Sheets alleged that Perry was involved in handling her remote work request, leading to a contentious filing wherein Carta sought to have Perry dismissed from the case.

The ongoing legal challenges have put Carta under intense scrutiny regarding its workplace culture. In 2020, reports surfaced describing a "toxic, boys club" environment within the company, leading to the hiring of an external consultant to address these concerns. Additionally, allegations from current and former employees indicated that they faced demotions or pay cuts after raising issues about company management practices.

Despite these controversies, Carta maintains its stance on equality and fairness. Amanda Taggart, Carta's Vice President of Communications, emphasized the company's commitment to workplace equality.

“Carta has always been committed to equality in the workplace and fair treatment of all its employees,” – Amanda Taggart, Carta VP Communications

Carta has consistently denied any wrongdoing in the lawsuits filed by Rogers and Sheets. Furthermore, it strongly disputed Perry's inclusion in Sheets' complaint, reflecting the company's intent to protect its executives from unfounded allegations.
