Samvardhana Motherson International Set to Acquire Honda-Affiliated Atsumitec

Samvardhana Motherson International, an Indian auto parts supplier, is on the verge of completing a strategic acquisition of Atsumitec, a Honda Motor-affiliated company based in Hamamatsu, Japan. The acquisition, valued at 8.5 billion yen ($56 million), will see Motherson gain a substantial 95% ownership of Atsumitec, while Honda will maintain a minor stake of 5%. The transaction is anticipated to be finalized as early as March.

Atsumitec, a renowned manufacturer of transmission and engine components, is strategically located between Tokyo and Nagoya. The company will continue to operate under its established name post-acquisition. The leadership will remain unchanged, with President Hideyuki Suzuki continuing to helm the company’s operations. This acquisition is a crucial part of Atsumitec's strategy to effectively transition into the evolving electric vehicle landscape.
