Apple has launched the first developer beta for iOS 18.4, introducing an innovative "Priority Notifications" feature. This cutting-edge function is powered by Apple Intelligence and is designed to help users manage notifications more effectively. Currently, iPhone notifications are sorted chronologically, with the most recent alerts appearing at the top. However, with Priority Notifications, Apple Intelligence will analyze incoming alerts to determine which should be displayed prominently.
The new feature aims to ensure that users do not miss important notifications, even if they were received earlier than others. Priority notifications are displayed in a separate section on the phone's Lock Screen, allowing users to focus on what matters most. While the feature is off by default, users can easily activate it by navigating to their Settings app, selecting "Notifications," and then opening the "Prioritize Notifications" section.
In addition to enhancing iOS 18.4, Apple Intelligence is also set to arrive on the Vision Pro platform as part of visionOS 2.4. A beta version of this operating system is currently available for developers, with a public release scheduled for April.
The introduction of Priority Notifications underscores Apple's commitment to streamlining user experience and improving productivity. For those who prefer the traditional layout, swiping up from the Lock Screen continues to display all notifications in chronological order.
