Schumacher, who joined the company in July 2023, will officially leave Unilever on May 31. Fernando Fernandez, currently the Chief Financial Officer, is set to succeed him as the new CEO. This announcement comes as Unilever experiences a slight dip in its shares, with a 2 percent decrease in early trading on Tuesday.
Hein Schumacher's brief tenure at Unilever has been marked by noteworthy strategic shifts. Under his leadership, the company underwent a substantial turnaround, notably spinning off its €8 billion ice cream business. Schumacher also introduced an ambitious €800 million cost-saving programme aimed at simplifying the business operations.
