Stellantis has announced a comprehensive recall affecting 68,000 vehicles across various models due to significant safety issues. In the United States, the recall specifically targets 27,354 Maserati vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2024. The recall addresses a malfunction in the rear-view camera, impacting models such as the Ghibli, Levante, Quattroporte, and MC20. The recall extends to vehicles produced through 2025, including the MC20 Cielo, Grecale SUV, GranCabrio, and GranTurismo.
The recall does not stop at Maserati. Stellantis has also recalled several other models due to problems with the PureTech engines' oil jet cooling nozzles. This issue affects 2,500 Peugeot 208s, 57,000 Citroën C3s, and 8,700 Opel Corsas. The affected vehicles were manufactured in France between 2022 and 2024. Stellantis attributes the fault to supplier deviations in the manufacturing quality of these nozzles.
"This is not a problem with the engine design but with the supplier, who has deviated from the manufacturing quality of these nozzles." – Stellantis
Previously, Stellantis faced issues with PureTech engines and took steps to address customer concerns. In January, they launched a platform offering retroactive compensation for buyers who experienced engine problems between 2022 and 2024. This proactive approach highlights Stellantis's commitment to maintaining customer trust and vehicle safety.
The recall process is designed to be swift and efficient, with Stellantis estimating that it will only take approximately 30 minutes per vehicle. This expedited service aims to minimize inconvenience for car owners while ensuring their safety.
