OpenAI Expands Deep Research Access to ChatGPT Users

OpenAI has announced an expansion of its deep research capabilities to all paying ChatGPT users, marking a significant shift in accessibility. Previously limited to ChatGPT Pro users, the web browsing agent responsible for creating comprehensive research reports is now available to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu. This strategic move aims to showcase the value of AI subscriptions, as tech giants like OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity strive to reach a broader user base with their respective deep research products.

The rollout offers 10 deep research queries per month for ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers. For ChatGPT Pro users, the number of monthly queries has increased from an initial 100 to 120. This change comes as part of OpenAI's efforts to enhance user engagement and satisfaction, providing more opportunities for subscribers to leverage its advanced research tools.

As the market for AI-driven research tools heats up, Google and Perplexity are also making strides. Google recently made its deep research agent available to all Gemini Advanced users, reflecting the industry's push to democratize access to these sophisticated tools. Meanwhile, Perplexity is actively developing its own version of a deep research product, aiming to compete in this rapidly evolving space.

The competition among OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity highlights a trend towards producing detailed research reports through their similarly named products. These reports are designed to offer users valuable insights, presenting information in a structured and thorough manner. With each company racing to put these tools in the hands of more users, it's evident that deep research agents are becoming a cornerstone of premium AI services.
