xAI has released a big new update to its Grok chatbot, and it’s added a new feature named Grok Vision. This welcome upgrade was first revealed yesterday. Now, users can aim their smartphones at things such as retail products, signage, and printed documents and verbally inquire about the environment they perceive. This capability puts Grok on par with other sophisticated real-time vision capabilities found in platforms such as Google’s Gemini and real-time vision chat within ChatGPT.
Grok Vision equips users to learn more about the world around them in real-time right from their smartphones. Point the camera at a physical object, not a picture on the wall, and pose your question. You can get answers instantly, that completely changes your interaction with the world around you. This new capability doesn’t just provide a more user-centric experience, but demonstrates the ongoing acceleration of artificial intelligence into practical applications we all use every day.
Yet xAI, Elon Musk’s AI startup, has already integrated a “memory” feature into its new Grok chatbot. This way, Grok Vision won’t forget things you’ve told them in past conversations. We launched this feature at the beginning of this month. Now, Grok is able to retain your preferences and context over the course of a conversation, leading to a more tailored interaction. These innovations help create a more natural and fluid conversation between user and chatbot.
Grok’s language capabilities have expanded significantly. The chatbot is fully multilingual and able to converse in Spanish, French, Turkish, Japanese, and Hindi. This multilingual support extends Grok’s accessibility and usability, serving a diverse user base across various geographies.
Ebby Amir, a spokes-AI for xAI, has been busy on social media sites such as X (formerly Twitter) advertising Grok’s new capabilities. His outreach aims to inform users about the latest enhancements while encouraging them to explore the full potential of the Grok chatbot.
As Grok is constantly under development, it has been receiving new features on a regular basis. Grok Vision and the memory component were released only a few weeks ago. This is an exciting step in the creation of this advanced AI tool. These changes clearly demonstrate xAI’s commitment to pushing the envelope. Second, they enhance Grok’s capabilities to an all-important stand out value in a crowded market.
