17 sailors from Italy, France, Norway and the UK go to battle over the champions title in this new off-shore format. Eurocup competitors await a thrilling race between different European ports! Scheduled to commence on August 10 in Kiel, Germany, and conclude on September 21 in Montenegro, this event promises to highlight the skills of elite ocean racing talent while promoting sustainability and innovation within marine sports.
This glorious race is a teaser to the real thing – a full round-the-world race planned for 2027. These 60-foot vessels are outfitted with huge, curved hydrofoil arms. Once they’re up to speed, these arms actually bring the hull up and out of the water. This pioneering surface piercing technology dramatically decreases drag and allows for faster, more streamlined racing and sailing. The annual event truly is sailing’s greatest spectacle. It highlights the need of making sustainability a priority in ocean racing.
A New Addition to Canada Ocean Racing
Pip Hare, an accomplished sailor known for her competitive spirit, has joined the Canada Ocean Racing team at a pivotal moment as they acquire a new vessel. Her presence on the all-important, four-person crew is integral. Every crew is required to have at least one female sailor and include members from two nationalities, adding to her significance.
Crew leader Scott Shawyer said that including Hare on the team was a big win.
“Pip is a ruthless competitor with a huge heart.” – Scott Shawyer
For the past four years, Hare has concentrated solely on solo sailing. Today, he views this change as a thrilling opportunity to work together in a team-oriented setting.
“Having been fully focused on solo sailing for the last four years, it’s going to be a great change of pace to join a team and bring my own experience to a more powerful force.” – Pip Hare
Having shown great courage and tenacity through her experience, Hare is set to leave a long-lasting mark on the Canada Ocean Racing team.
Innovation and Sustainability at the Forefront

Our adoption of novel advanced hydrofoil technology underscores our commitment to constant improvement and innovation. It shows us the path to ship smarter, faster and greener ways to sail.
As the vessels glide through the water with reduced drag, they highlight the potential for sustainable advancements in ocean racing. This heavy emphasis on sustainability aligns perfectly with the overarching objectives of The Ocean Race Europe. The event sets a high bar in engaging sailors and teams to implement sustainable practices.
