Glenn Maxwell Ruled Out of IPL Season Due to Finger Injury

Glenn Maxwell, Punjab Kings’ explosive all-rounder, is the latest big name to go down with a finger injury. Consequently, he will be ruled out for the rest of IPL 2025 season. The franchise made it official today, saying through a team spokesperson that Maxwell is ruled out. He sustained the injury while playing a match against Kolkata Knight Riders on 26 April.

Maxwell’s injury happened while he was batting, and he was visibly limping as he strode off the field after his wicket. He was due to open the batting for the franchise’s new team against Lucknow Super Giants in Dharamsala on Sunday. Today, that match seems incomplete without his inspiring presence. This season, Maxwell had an incredible 48 runs this year over just six innings. His limiting all-time high performance with bat was a blistering 30 runs from the 12 ball innings against Rajasthan Royals.

His Punjab Kings now sit second in the very competitive 10-team league. With Maxwell on the sidelines, this group is set to face their biggest challenge yet. They’ll still be looking to hold onto that spot, even if their most important player is sidelined.

Punjab Kings had an outstanding reaction on social media to show their full support for Maxwell. They sent their thoughts for a quick recovery through this difficult period.

“Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a finger injury. We wish him a speedy recovery,” – Punjab Kings

Maxwell is also known for his explosive batting style and extraordinary ability to clear the boundary. His presence is sorely missed by fans and teammates alike. The franchise needs to plan now to fill the void his loss creates as they gear up for matches ahead.
