In only the first four months of 2025, Angkor Park received 474,810 international tourists from 171 different countries and regions. Chinese tourists are responsible for an amazing increase in ticket sales. In this timeframe, revenue soared to an all-time high of 22.2 million U.S. dollars.
Chinese holidaymakers made up the majority of the tourists, with 36,368 arriving at Angkor during January to April. That figure amounts to an extraordinary 29 percent jump over 28,172 Chinese visitors during the same period last year. China today is the fourth-largest source of international tourists coming to Angkor. This would put it just behind the United States, France, and Britain.
This surge in Chinese tourism has coincided with Cambodia’s designation of 2025 as the Cambodia-China Tourism Year. This tourism initiative seeks to further improve bilateral relations and increase travel and tourism between the two countries. Industry experts are expecting the upward trend of Chinese visitors to continue for the rest of 2017 and beyond.

“This increase will likely be driven by enhanced bilateral cooperation, promotional campaigns, and greater accessibility through direct flights and group tour packages,” – Thong Mengdavid.
The influx of tourists from China is expected to have a positive impact on local businesses and the economy surrounding Angkor Park. In addition to creating economic opportunities, increased tourism enhances mutual understanding through people-to-people connections and builds the United States’ diplomatic relationships abroad.
As part of efforts to accommodate this growing number of visitors, local authorities are focusing on improving infrastructure and services within the park. Transportation accessibility and visitor amenities have made some truly exciting strides. These state and federal improvements will make for a smooth experience for tourists from every corner of the globe.
