Bishan Stadium will be the venue for the AFC Champions League Two final on May 18, 2025. The venue has faced hefty upgrades to further enhance the experience for spectators, while upgrading the location to international standards. These additions will more than triple the size of the stadium, boosting its capacity to about 10,000 attendees. This change follows the venue’s provisional approval on April 25 to hold the celebrated final.
We ended up picking Bishan Stadium over Jalan Besar stadium due to issues with the quality of the pitch. In addition, we required a venue that could accommodate a much bigger audience. Bishan Stadium is the home ground for Singapore’s domestic league. Its universal appeal, popularity and ease of use makes it the perfect choice for this unprecedented global occasion.
Extensive Renovations Underway
Bishan Stadium is undergoing full renovations to have the facility ready in time for the finals. As part of the renovation project, they are constructing three new spectator stands. Together, these additions will nearly double current seating capacity, allowing for a proper match day experience for the thousands of fans who will be in attendance.
Beyond improving viewing experiences, the stadium’s pitch is in line for some crucial renovations. Like many things, the latest standard condition of the pitch which used to go as low as 70-80 percent is now being raised to the FIFA gold standard. Jonathan Teo, responsible for overseeing these enhancements, stated, “My objective is to get it to a competition level, and that is to get it conformed to the FIFA standards or requirements.”
Other major upgrades involve turfing the surface of some sections of the track and moving seats from the dugout of the National Stadium. The stadium recently began fortifying its floodlights to comply with evolving broadcast work requirements. This will produce a visually arresting event that will look spectacular for audiences in the room and at home.
Enhancements for Spectator Experience
Bishan Stadium in Singapore preparing for the AFC Champions League Two final. Oh, they’re putting two new giant screens at each end of the venue! These screens will enhance the spectator experience by providing clear visuals of the action on the field.
As many as 350 workers have been mobilized per shift and all facilities renovation deadlines will be met. Carolyn Chia emphasized the importance of this collective effort, stating, “Organising the finals in Singapore is definitely a boost for the players and for the fans as well. It is very accessible, and everyone is very familiar with Bishan being our home ground already during our local league games days.”
Chia further expressed confidence in the preparations, adding, “(It is to give them the assurance that we are ready to put out the match).”
A Home Ground Advantage
Bishan Stadium has been selected as the venue for the AFC Champions League Two final. This decision emphasizes its significance as a lively community center for many different sports. These improvements help demonstrate that at a time of crisis we prioritized investing in our infrastructure. They are a testament to our vision of providing an unparalleled experience for fans and players alike.
With its far larger capacity and event-ready facilities, Bishan Stadium will be in a much better position to provide an unforgettable atmosphere for the final. This will help the upgrades to better feature the local talent. For fans, the most exciting aspect will be having a familiar platform to connect with all the magical gameplay.
