Tour de France Set to Conquer Butte Montmartre in Grand Finale

And the equally as eagerly their Tour de France starts July 5 in Lille. After a thrilling life of discovery, it will conclude its adventure on July 27. Well, this year is different! For the final stage, riders will ride up the wonderful and historic Butte Montmartre in Paris, giving the finale a beautiful and exciting touch.

The Amaury Sport Organisation, the event’s organizer, has meticulously designed an exceptional route that reflects the spirit of the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games. This groundbreaking course is sure to take the world by storm. Last year’s property road race was an all-time favorite with more than 500,000 cheering spectators!

A New Route for a New Era

The decision to include Butte Montmartre as the final ascent would be a hugely ambitious, but dangerous gambit. Typically, the Tour de France ends with a parade-style flat sprint finish on the Champs-Élysées. This year’s route brings a new and difficult climb that threatens to change race dynamics in a big way.

“The riders will climb Montmartre hill and pass at the foot of the Sacre-Coeur before contesting a stage whose scenario could break with the traditions established over the past 50 years in the heart of the capital,” – Amaury Sport Organisation.

This reversal brings new and much-deserved attention to the breathtaking beauty of Paris. It intends to increase the competitive tension of the finale. Each rider will face the historic steep hillclimb challenge. This climb might just be the deciding factor in determining the overall champion.

Anticipation Builds Among Fans and Participants

With this inclusive start date getting near, excitement is growing amongst fans and active participants alike. The Tour de France is famous around the world for its tough courses and stunning scenery and this year is no different. The shift to a more climactic finish at Montmartre has generated buzz about potential surprises and dramatic moments during the race.

Amaury Sport Organisation has said it is confident in the appeal of this new stage. They’re hoping that not only will it draw out diehard cycling fans, but create new ones through an accessible and exciting entry point into the sport. The organization aims to create a memorable experience that echoes the grandeur of the Olympic Games while celebrating the rich history of the Tour de France.
