LA28 Selects Archer Aviation as Official Air-Taxi Provider for 2028 Games

LA28, the organizing committee behind the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, just dropped some very cool news. They have announced they’ve selected Archer Aviation as their preferred air-taxi partner! Together, this historic partnership will change the nature of travel and transportation. It is designed to handle the influx from the projected 15 million visitors during the Games in 2028.

With events scheduled all around the sprawling city of Los Angeles, the stakes for safe, convenient transportation have never been higher. The integration of Archer’s piloted electric Midnight eVTOL aircraft will play a crucial role in facilitating movement around key venues, ensuring that VIPs, fans, and stakeholders can navigate the city with ease.

A Vision for the Future of Transportation

Casey Wasserman, Chairperson and President of LA28, said that he was thrilled about the partnership. He stated, “Our vision is to fundamentally re-imagine the Olympic and Paralympic Games experience, and this partnership represents an incredible opportunity to deliver something unprecedented, showcasing the very best of what Los Angeles has to offer on the world stage.”

The partnership goes beyond bringing innovative air transportation to the games, bringing support to Team USA during the Games. The fuselage of the Midnight eVTOL aircraft is designed for carrying up to four passengers. It will have a key part to play in moving event-goers between take-off-and-landing hubs and major event venues.

Wasserman emphasized the importance of this initiative, saying, “There’s no better time to do that than during the LA28 Games.”

Tackling Los Angeles Traffic Challenges

Los Angeles is well-known for its notorious traffic congestion, which poses a significant challenge during large-scale events like the Olympics. Archer’s air-taxi service would be launching in a couple of years. This century’s best new transportation mode could go a long way toward solving today’s problems.

Adam Goldstein, CEO and founder of Archer Aviation, underscored the company’s commitment to changing the way people travel around cities. “We want to transform the way people get around Los Angeles and leave a legacy that shapes the future of transportation in America,” he remarked.

The Midnight aircraft will fly attendees to and from the games. It will deliver for all of the emergency services and security operations for the entirety of the event. This multi-pronged approach is a testament to the exciting and holistic scope of the partnership between LA28 and Archer Aviation.

Broader Implications for Air Mobility

There was big news out of Archer Aviation yesterday. This week, they’re testing a proposed air-taxi network in New York City, developed in cooperation with United Airlines. That means there’s a bigger, long-term goal for the company to transform urban air mobility in other U.S. cities with more than one million residents.

The integration of Archer’s electric aircraft into LA28 represents a significant step forward in re-imagining how the world’s biggest sporting event can be experienced in the future. The LA28 organizers are confident that this new, creative approach will become the template for transportation at all future global megaprojects.
