Ford Motor Company has announced their latest recall. This impacts nearly 274,000 of Ford’s two most popular SUVs, the Navigator and Expedition, due to faulty braking systems. To protect vehicle owners, the recall covers model years from 2022 through 2024.
The recall covers 223,315 Ford Expeditions and 50,474 Lincoln Navigators. A copy of the report posted Friday indicates that Ford estimates that only 1% of the affected vehicles will develop the defect. Failure to address this issue may greatly affect braking effectiveness. The company has taken responsibility for a more proactive approach in notifying dealers, with those notifications beginning Wednesday.
Ford is making important strides to strengthen communication with vehicle owners. From May 26 to May 30, the company will send out letters by mail to owners of the affected models. The company has designated recall number 25S47 for this particular occurrence. This provides customers and dealers with a verifiable point of reference, should the issue come up.
Ford was right to take these actions to address any risk that may be presented by the braking systems on these SUVs. By quickly notifying dealers and contacting owners, the company has shown that it is concerned about the safety and satisfaction of its customers.
This recall is a common first step by automotive manufacturers, who are required to respond to safety hazards quickly and thoroughly. Ford encourages all customers affected to respond as soon as possible upon receiving their notification letters. Contact your local dealer representatives for support!
