A Journey Beyond: Tay Ping Hui and Assistant Tina’s 14-Year Adventure

Actor Tay Ping Hui and his assistant, Tina, have cultivated a dynamic partnership over the past 14 years. As of 2025, their professional journey has taken them across the globe, including to countries such as China, Malaysia, Germany, France, and Spain. Despite the demanding nature of their work, they have developed a rhythm that allows them to balance professionalism with camaraderie.

Ping Hui, at 54 years old, continues to be a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. His relationship with Tina is not just limited to professional duties; it extends to a deep mutual respect. Tina, who serves as his assistant and work partner, has also taken on roles such as assistant director and content creator for his social media and website.

Their latest adventure led them to Bhutan, where they explored Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha. The trip presented several challenges, not least of which was the unpredictable weather. Ping Hui described how they experienced "burning sun, cloudy skies, and falling rain all within hours," a testament to the region's capricious climate.

The highlight of their Bhutan journey was the Bumdra Trek, where they hiked up to 3,800 meters and camped overnight on the mountain. For Ping Hui, this trek was a memorable experience.

"It's hiking up 3,800m in one of the most beautiful places on Earth," he remarked, reflecting on their expedition.

The trek was not without its hurdles. Tina faced her biggest challenge during this trip when she had to speak in front of the camera. Despite being fundamentally reserved and quite shy, she stepped up to the challenge with admirable courage.

"Tina is fundamentally reserved and quite shy, so being on camera for the entire trip was a new thing for her, but she was a total trooper!" praised Ping Hui.

Ping Hui appreciates Tina's unwavering support throughout their journeys. He commended her ability to anticipate his needs with minimal communication.

"For instance, just a hand sign or eye contact and I will know what he needs," Tina explained, highlighting their seamless collaboration.

Their adventures are documented in the upcoming episode of "Camping Around The World," set to release on February 24. This series is available on-demand for free on Mewatch and airs every Monday at 8 PM on Channel 8.

Ping Hui’s respect for Tina extends beyond her professional capabilities. He admires her ability to handle simple tasks that make a significant difference in his day-to-day life.

"Appreciates everything she does for him, including simple things like making him a cup of coffee," noted Tina about Ping Hui's acknowledgment of her contributions.

Their travels often involve long periods away from home. For instance, when they spent up to six or seven months in China per project, they relied heavily on each other for support.

"For example, when we had to spend up to six to seven months in China per project, we'd rely on each other while we were there," Ping Hui recounted.

Despite the serious nature of their work, Ping Hui describes their trips as both serious yet fun. While maintaining professionalism during filming is crucial, he ensures that he takes care of Tina as well.

"The interaction with the local guides and the entire crew was playful and personal, but most of all, it's the view along the way, especially when we were above the clouds," Ping Hui shared, capturing the essence of their shared experiences.
