Actor DeRon Horton on the Road to Recovery After Shooting Incident

DeRon Horton, a 32-year-old actor known for his roles in "Dear White People" and "The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey," is on the mend following a harrowing shooting incident. Horton was shot through a car window shortly before Christmas, resulting in a shattered left arm. The injury required surgical intervention, including the insertion of a plate and screws. Despite the ordeal, Horton remains optimistic and grateful, expressing his appreciation for life and his faith.

Horton shared his experience and gratitude on Instagram, giving thanks for his survival and acknowledging the support he received from friends, family, and industry colleagues. Among those who reached out were Issa Rae and Samuel L. Jackson, who offered their encouragement during his recovery.

"First off, I wanna give honour to god for covering me and protecting me to make it out this situation and countless other ones," Horton stated in a heartfelt post.

Following the shooting, Horton was hospitalized but is now focused on healing. Although frustrated by his inability to exercise due to his arm injury, he maintains a positive outlook. He expressed relief and gratitude for avoiding more severe outcomes.

"But I'm blessed to not be in a casket or paralysed. Lord thank you," he wrote.

Horton also took a moment to acknowledge the support network that has rallied around him during this challenging time.

"Everybody that checked on me n holla'd at me specially my family and friends, I love y'all, thank you."

Despite the setback, Horton remains in high spirits, describing himself as feeling "amazing" despite the injury. He continues to recover at home, where he is focused on regaining strength and returning to his normal activities.

"I'm out of the hospital, now healing. I got a plate and screws in my arm, so I can't work out for a minute which I'm mad about but it could have been worse!" he added.
