Eric Mabius, widely recognized for his role as Daniel Meade in ABC's "Ugly Betty," was arrested on Thursday morning, February 20, in Yulee, Florida. The 53-year-old actor faces two misdemeanor charges: battery and resisting an officer without violence. The incident unfolded in the early hours at a Nassau County bar, where Mabius allegedly assaulted an intoxicated woman.
The altercation began when Mabius reportedly "knocked" the woman to the ground. According to the victim, the encounter lasted only a few seconds, but during that brief period, Mabius allegedly got on top of her and began pulling her hair. The victim recounted that he ripped a handful of hair from her scalp while she lay on the floor.
"The victim said this only took a few seconds but while she was on the ground Eric got on top of her and was pulling her hair ripping a handful of her hair from her scalp." – The victim
Following the incident, Mabius was uncooperative with law enforcement. He did not comply with simple commands from the police officer to sit on a bench. This lack of cooperation led to his removal from the bar by the investigating officer.
"At one point in time Eric tried to stand up and walk behind me while I was trying to finish investigating the incident." – The officer
Mabius is also known for his roles in the Hallmark series "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and the TV series "Chicago Fire." The actor has yet to comment on the events that led to his arrest. Meanwhile, the Nassau County Sheriff's Department continues its investigation into the matter.
