Aetherflux is a space-based solar power startup. It has received a lot of national attention since coming out of stealth mode in October 2024. Like Robinhood, the company is founded and led by Baiju Bhatt, its other co-founder of Robinhood fame. Based in San Carlos, California, Aetherflux will continue to transform approaches to energy collection. It aims to deploy a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites that would gather solar energy and beam it directly to receiving stations on the ground.
Just last month, Aetherflux announced that it raised $50 million in Series A funding, giving it the capital it needs to accelerate its groundbreaking work. This funding round, finalized last month, further demonstrates investor faith in Aetherflux’s vision and technological aspirations. The company says that it will use the capital to accelerate the development of its satellite constellation. They’re currently preparing their first foray into space, which is now scheduled to launch in 2026.
With Aetherflux’s proposed Kaiser satellites, they’ll gather solar energy in orbit. Up there, sunlight is plentiful, unfiltered by clouds and pollution. This energy would then be transmitted wirelessly to Earth, delivering the world’s first truly inexhaustible, renewable power source. This innovative approach would greatly increase energy access around the world while decreasing dependence on conventional fossil fuels.
