Bournemouth’s Scott Set for Surgery After Jaw Injury in Villa Clash

Bournemouth’s 21-year-old rising star, Scott, was just knocked down to earth by an unfortunate circumstance. He fractured his jaw at their home match against Aston Villa, putting him out of action. The injury, a bad break for Villa’s Scott, happened just seven minutes into the match after Scott had a slight collision with Villa’s Tyrone Mings. Even with the injury, Scott survived and played through the remainder of the first half. Only then did he realize the seriousness of his injury.

The club announced that scans showed the presence of a displaced fracture, and surgery would be required to stabilize Scott’s jaw. “Scans have since revealed a displaced fracture and Scott will undergo surgery to stabilise the jaw,” a spokesperson for Bournemouth stated. Scott was recently coming off another injury. This, after he was sidelined more than three months recovering from last October’s knee surgery.

Current Standing and Upcoming Matches

Bournemouth are currently 10th in the league and this should be commended since they’ve played well over the course of the entire season. The team is preparing their team for the important matches to come, including an away match against Manchester City on the 20th of May. On May 25th, they will be hosting opposition Leicester City on the home ground. Each side is hoping to earn their precious campaign points in this hard-fought match.

Bournemouth’s ownership and supporters alike will be hoping to avoid watching their club’s fortunes dive without one of the last team’s interesting and promising homegrown talents. How Scott’s absence affects the squad’s dynamic, particularly as they’ll be tested by some stiff competition in the weeks to come, remains to be seen.

Scott’s Journey in Recent Months

Scott’s recent injury woes point to the vicious cycle of demands surrounding athletes at this level. He also suffered a serious knee injury last October that kept him out for most of the past year. He fought and went on a purposeful, fighting return to rescue his hometown club. Regardless, this new injury obviously puts a question mark on Arrieta’s fitness and availability for the home stretch.

The club released a statement saying that they remain committed to assisting Scott “as he begins the recovery process.” Surgery is imminent, and the length of time he’ll be out this go round is anyone’s guess. Only time will tell what the outcome is.
