Crusoe Expands AI Infrastructure with New Data Center in Texas

Crusoe, one of the tech industry’s dark horse contenders, is preparing to open a new data center in Abilene, Texas. This acquisition will only strengthen its No. 1 rank in the world’s fastest growing artificial intelligence market. At just 20,000 square feet, this highly automated facility will be packed with 100,000 specialized AI chips. Aside from further expanding their work from cryptocurrency to building out data centers and infrastructure required for AI, this represents another notable step.

The new data center will go live in late 2023. This expansion underscores Crusoe’s commitment to helping enterprises serve the booming demand for AI-powered cloud services. The company managed to raise a staggering $15 billion in investment for this audacious idea. This funding, comprised of debt and equity, is a reflection of significant investor confidence in Crusoe’s vision and execution.

Founded in 2018, Crusoe started out as a kind of crypto company. Seeing the writing on the wall in terms of the new direction technology and market demand was taking, it’s made a successful pivot to creating specialized AI infrastructure. This savvy strategic play has put Crusoe at the vanguard of these “neoclouds.” These firms are radically changing the rules of cloud, according to an increasing focus on application AI.

The new facility in Abilene is purpose-built to deliver specialized highly available data center services specifically configured for AI workloads. The data center has the capacity to fit 30,000 AI chips. It’s intended to help a wide range of industries that require access to robust computing infrastructure for complex machine learning models and high-volume data processing.

Crusoe’s decision to double down on AI infrastructure can be seen as a microcosm of a larger trend happening within the technology sector. As enterprises come to rely on AI, the demand for strong, dependable, hyper-scalable cloud services increases. Crusoe’s data centers are already helping to provide these essential services and will continue to do so in the future.
