Empowering Artists: Notes App Revolutionizes Music Industry with Fintech Solutions

Notes
, a pioneering fintech company, is setting out to transform the landscape for independent urban musicians and creators. Founded by serial entrepreneur and recording artist Victor Lombard, also known as DIVINE, Notes aims to provide artists with the tools to educate themselves, fund projects, and build careers on their own terms. The company, currently in its beta phase, plans a full launch at the end of February, with renowned hip-hop legend Rakim playing a crucial role as co-founder and advisory board member.

DIVINE, who has known Rakim for two decades, admires him for "staying true to his artists and principles." This shared vision of empowering artists has brought them together in a venture that seeks to shift the narrative in the music industry. DIVINE stated,

“I want Notes to shift the narrative from artists being exploited by record labels to artists owning their financial future and career success,” – DIVINE.

The company's mission is clear: to help artists succeed and thrive in an industry often characterized by exploitative contracts and limited financial resources. DIVINE noted,

“The music industry, as it stands, is structured to take advantage of artists through exploitative contracts and limited financial resources, forcing them into predatory deals just to survive,” – DIVINE.

To combat these challenges, Notes offers a suite of innovative features, including a "digital passport" that enables users to track their credit scores, access loans, and utilize budgeting tools. The app also integrates AI tools, featuring an AI voice assistant modeled after Rakim's voice. This technology aims to redistribute control back to artists and creators, aligning with DIVINE's belief that technology serves as a great equalizer.

Notes is currently self-funded but actively seeking a pre-seed round of funding to accelerate its growth. The company's strategic approach combines its fintech capabilities with cultural authenticity, as emphasized by DIVINE,

“When I started ideating Notes, I knew it had to be more than just a fintech platform, it had to be a movement rooted in the values of empowerment and cultural authenticity,” – DIVINE.

DIVINE's experience in founding fintech companies like BLAK and Solvent lays a strong foundation for Notes. Both ventures focused on underbanked and underserved communities, providing financial services where they were needed most. This background underscores his commitment to using technology as a tool for empowerment.

Rakim's involvement extends beyond his advisory role; his son Tahmell Griffin holds an executive position within the company, further strengthening their commitment to fostering a family-oriented business environment. Together, they aim to create a platform that not only supports artists financially but also culturally resonates with them.

Notes continues to develop its platform with plans to launch fully by the end of February. As it seeks external funding, the company remains steadfast in its mission to redefine the music industry's dynamics. Through its innovative approach, Notes is poised to offer artists the opportunity to own their financial futures and achieve career success on their own terms.
