Everton Transitions to New Era with Stadium Move and New CEO

Everton Football Club is preparing to celebrate an important anniversary. Their last Premier League match at Goodison Park, and in the Premier League itself, will be on Sunday against Southampton. This fixture represents the dramatic conclusion of the club’s traditional stomping grounds, their stronghold since 1892. It heralds the beginning of a new era of its own, as Everton moves across town to a new home, a stunning proposed stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. The relocated new venue will now seat 52,888 rabid fans. It is intended to establish the club’s profile among the highest echelon of the Premier League.

The appointment of Angus Kinnear as the new chief executive is a key moment to be aligned with this transformational time for Everton. Kinnear’s overall leadership experience on and off the pitch exceeds 20 years. He was the CEO of Leeds United from 2017 to January of this year. His impressive pedigree includes senior positions at both Arsenal and West Ham United. This combined experience has left him the most lauded figure in the sport.

A New Leadership Vision

Kinnear’s leadership arrives at a crucial juncture as The Friedkin Group recently completed the acquisition of Everton with 98.8 percent ownership, following Farhad Moshiri’s sale of his majority stake in December through Blue Heaven Holdings. Fans hope this ownership change will welcome necessary investment and vision into the club.

“We are delighted to welcome Angus to the club,” – Everton Executive Chairman Marc Watts.

Everton’s ongoing move from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock is a profound change not only for the stadium. The club has had Goodison Park as its home for more than a century. “His track record of leadership and strategic delivery across multiple Premier League clubs speaks for itself. Angus joins us at a pivotal time, and we know his energy, expertise, and experience make him the perfect man to lead Everton as we move into an exciting new era.” – Everton Executive Chairman Marc Watts.

Chief Colin Chong, chief executive officer, is now leading the design and development of the new downtown stadium.
