Former Malaysian Prime Minister Experiences Health Scare at 65

In a concerning turn of events, Malaysia's former Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, collapsed at his home early Saturday morning, February 22. The 65-year-old was discovered unconscious around 2:30 a.m. and was immediately rushed to Sunway Medical Centre in Kota Damansara. Medical professionals reported that the collapse was due to high blood pressure. Following the incident, Ismail Sabri has been under close medical observation and is now fully conscious.

Ismail Sabri, who is perhaps best known for his tenure as Malaysia's ninth Prime Minister, served in the role from August 2021 to November 2022. A seasoned politician, he has represented Bera, Pahang as a member of parliament since 2004. Prior to his political career, Ismail Sabri practiced law and contributed his expertise as a director on several government boards.

Among the boards he served on are the Southeast Pahang Development Authority (DARA) and the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board. His extensive experience in both law and governance provided him with a robust foundation for his political journey, including his tenure as Prime Minister.

In the wake of his health scare, Ismail Sabri remains at Sunway Medical Centre. According to Azran Fitri Abdul Rahim, an aide close to the former Prime Minister, doctors have imposed strict visitation restrictions to facilitate his recovery.
