Google Introduces Screen Search Feature for iPhone Users

Google is enhancing its suite of features for iOS users with a new update that allows English-language users to search what's on their screen through a simple gesture. The update, rolling out this week, is part of Google's ongoing efforts to expand AI capabilities within its apps. Initially available in countries where AI Overviews are accessible, this innovation is set to streamline the way users interact with content on their devices.

The new feature is available through the Google app for Android and iOS, focusing initially on iPhone users. It enables users to search directly from their screen while browsing within the Google Chrome or Google Search app. The interaction can be initiated by tapping, drawing, or highlighting on the screen, offering a seamless experience similar to Android's "Circle to Search" functionality.

Globally available on iOS, the update also brings AI Overviews to more Google Lens search results. AI Overviews offer a snapshot of information at the top of search results, providing users with quick insights. To access the feature, users need to navigate to the three-dot menu within the app and select "Search Screen with Google Lens." This addition aims to enhance user convenience and improve information accessibility across platforms.

In the coming months, Google plans to extend this update to Chrome on desktop and mobile devices. A new Lens icon will be introduced in the address bar, allowing users to easily utilize this feature across different browsers and devices. This expansion reflects Google's commitment to integrating AI technology into everyday search experiences.
