He knows finance inside and out from his time as CFO at Einride. At the same time, Reliable Robotics revealed that Marc Stoll would be joining as its new CFO. Stoll spent time as VP of Finance at Apple, and he was previously a partner at Eclipse Ventures. Strategic Moves by Luminar, Zoox, Tesla, and Uber

Luminar has stocked the headlines with news of its hard pivot to achieve its restructuring goals and raise added capital. The company recently completed its third bankruptcy in as many years. More recently, it has been in the news for announcing plans to raise $35 million by selling investors convertible preferred stock. Luminar intends to make the remaining three tranches ($35 million total) available in three additional 60-day increments. These will be marketed at a discounted purchase price of 96% of the stock’s par value.

At the same time, Zoox has reached a significant milestone as it finished the first mapping step in the process for its AVs. The company plans to begin pilot testing of these vehicles in Atlanta later this summer. This action further demonstrates its commitment to leading the way in autonomous transportation.

Tesla is doing the right thing strategically too by restricting its robotaxi operations in Austin to the “safest” areas. This ruling proves that safety need not be sacrificed when innovation brings us new, safer modes of transport.
