Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has been giving us all a crash course lately. Even as Huang made clear that he was most interested in how to master AI as a student himself today. Regardless of the industry, he attributes any success to a real understanding of AI. He stated, “If I were a student today, irrespective of whether it’s for math or science or chemistry or biology — doesn’t matter what field of science I’m going into or what profession — I’m going to ask myself, ‘How can I use AI to do my job better?’”
He singled out generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini Pro, and Grok. Through that lens, he described how these technologies are poised to dramatically improve learning outcomes as well as productivity. Huang stressed the importance of perfecting AI prompts. Only by asking the right questions will we be able to harness the true power of these emerging tools. “Learning how to interact with AI is not unlike being someone who’s really good at asking questions,” he noted.
As Huang explains, prompting well is a skill that goes beyond basic know-how. He stated, “Prompting AI is very similar. You can’t just randomly ask a bunch of questions. Asking AI to be an assistant to you requires some expertise and artistry of how to prompt it.” What’s clear from this viewpoint is the value of fostering skills of questioning.
