Masters Practice Round Canceled Due to Inclement Weather

Yesterday, Augusta National Golf Club called off the initial practice round for The Masters. Severe weather conditions made this decision unavoidable. Tournament officials first delayed the practice round before finally announcing the cancellation of the tournament altogether. This decision came as rain and the threat of thunderstorms prompted officials to clear the course, instructing patrons to leave by 11:25 a.m. ET (1525 GMT).

The Masters—one of the four major golf tournaments—has been held every year at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia since 1934. If you think anything can compete with The Masters this week, though, you’re mistaken. Golf fans all over the globe are excitedly looking forward to this thrilling chapter in golf history.

The tournament continues this week with changeable weather in the forecast all week.
