I know the golf that I can play,” he said. He is passionate in his conviction that focusing on individual craft is the key to achieving greatness. I’ve always said I’m not going to put a number on it, McIlroy continued, making clear his desire for an approach focused more on improvement than numbers.
A Special Connection with Quail Hollow
McIlroy has had as much success at Quail Hollow as any player in the tournament’s storied history. This knowledge of the track has him filled with confidence entering the PGA Championship where he is seeking to finally grab a major victory. “That’s a very cool thing. I want to still create a lot of other highlights and high points, but I’m not sure if any other win will live up to what happened a few weeks ago,” he remarked, indicating that while he cherishes his past victories, he remains eager for what lies ahead.
McIlroy is already preparing for his next. He knows how tough it will be going forward, but that being said, he definitely believes that his future in this sport is bright. “I have achieved everything that I’ve wanted – I’ve done everything I’ve wanted to do in the game,” he said, reaffirming his perspective on success.
