Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao have officially announced their divorce, ending a seven-year relationship that began on the set of the popular drama series, "The Romance of the Condor Heroes." The couple, who registered their marriage in 2016 and welcomed a son the same year, confirmed the separation through their respective Weibo accounts. Both shared the message, "Grateful to have met each other. I wish you all the best in the future, we will co-parent our child together and accompany him as he grows up."
Speculation about the state of their marriage began to surface when they did not spend the recent Chinese New Year together. Social media posts revealed that Chen Xiao was in Anhui, while Michelle was in Beijing. Further fueling rumors, Michelle attended a concert without her wedding ring, and top Chinese paparazzo Zhuo Wei reported that the couple had been separated for over a year. According to Zhuo Wei, Chen Xiao asked for a divorce and moved out, with the couple reportedly not communicating.
In December, Michelle faced a personal tragedy with the passing of her father. Despite being in China filming at the time, Chen Xiao did not attend the funeral and made no public response to Michelle's heartfelt social media tributes to her late father. This absence further highlighted the growing distance between the two.
The couple's journey began in 2015 when they starred together in "The Romance of the Condor Heroes." Their on-screen chemistry translated into a real-life romance, culminating in marriage and the birth of their son in 2016. However, despite their promising start, challenges arose over time, leading to their current decision to part ways.
Zhuo Wei's insights into their relationship troubles have drawn public attention, especially his claims that Chen Xiao initiated the divorce and that communication between them had ceased. As public figures, their personal lives have been subject to scrutiny, and their recent announcement has confirmed what many had speculated.
