Lee Si-an, a 25-year-old model and former idol trainee, finds herself embroiled in a legal dispute with her agency, Leaders Entertainment. The agency has filed a lawsuit against her, alleging breach of contract. This development comes as Lee Si-an is currently gaining attention as a contestant on Netflix's reality dating show, Single's Inferno 4, which is set to premiere on March 7.
Lee Si-an's journey in the entertainment industry began as a contestant on the K-pop survival shows Idol School and Produce 48. She later joined Leaders Entertainment in 2023 to advance her modeling career. Prior to this, she was part of a pre-debut girl group, Happyface Girls, which presumably disbanded in 2022. Her contract with Leaders Entertainment was initially set to expire in October 2024. However, a supplementary agreement signed in April 2024 extended her contract until April 2026.
The lawsuit filed by Leaders Entertainment accuses Lee Si-an of violating both the original and supplementary contracts. The agency claims that Lee Si-an expressed her intention to terminate the contract prematurely, indicating she would only fulfill her obligations until October 21, 2024. Leaders Entertainment asserts that they have gathered evidence to support their case and are proceeding with legal action.
"This is a violation of both her exclusive contract and the supplemental agreement extending her contract. Si-an's objections to the exclusive contract lack evidence." – Leaders Entertainment
Lee Si-an gained initial fame through her participation in the 2003 dramas My Tutor Friend and Stairway to Heaven. Her last acting role was in the 2023 series Han River Police. Despite her success in these projects, it is her current stint on Single's Inferno 4 that has brought her back into the spotlight.
The controversy surrounding Lee Si-an highlights the complexities of contractual agreements in the entertainment industry. As she navigates this legal challenge, the outcome could potentially impact her future prospects within the industry.
