North Korean state media has fiercely criticized US President Donald Trump's recent proposal to take over Gaza and relocate the Palestinian population. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) described the proposal as "ludicrous" and accused the US of "extortion." This denunciation comes amidst claims that the Trump administration also aims to take over the Panama Canal and Greenland, and has allegedly renamed the "Gulf of Mexico" to the "Gulf of America."
The commentary from KCNA underscored North Korea's position on global issues, stating that the world is reacting strongly to the US's actions.
"The world is now boiling like a porridge pot over the US' bombshell declaration," – Korean Central News Agency (KCNA)
Trump's proposal to take over Gaza has been viewed as a direct threat to Palestinian aspirations for peace and safety. The KCNA commentary, carried by North Korea's official news outlet, went further to label the US as an "extortionist" and accused it of being an "accomplice" to Israel's actions in Gaza. North Korea has consistently criticized Israel for the ongoing conflict in Gaza, blaming the nation for the bloodshed and holding the US partly responsible.
During his first term, Trump engaged in unprecedented summits with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. These meetings were portrayed as fostering a personal rapport between the two leaders. However, Pyongyang's state media has largely remained silent on Trump's second term, except for this recent criticism.
The KCNA report shows North Korea's disdain for what it perceives as the US's violation of other nations' sovereignty. As articulated by KCNA,
"The US should wake up from its anachronistic delusion and immediately stop violating the dignity and sovereignty of other countries and peoples," – Korean Central News Agency (KCNA)
Kim Jong Un has been openly critical of the US and its allies, often using state media platforms to convey this sentiment. This latest commentary also highlights how North Korea views the US's international policies under Trump's leadership as aggressive and overreaching.
Despite these tensions, President Trump has expressed intentions to reach out to Kim once again. As geopolitical dynamics continue to evolve, Pyongyang's reactions may play a significant role in shaping future diplomatic relations.
