More than 50 companies have decided to pull their advertisements from Japan's influential Fuji Television Network. Industry giants such as Toyota Motor and Suntory Holdings are among those halting their ad campaigns. This mass withdrawal follows serious accusations of sexual misconduct involving a prominent TV personality, Masahiro Nakai.
The allegations center on an incident in June 2023, during a party reportedly organized by a Fuji TV employee. Nakai is accused of engaging in nonconsensual sexual activity with a woman at this event. In response to these allegations, numerous predominantly Japanese companies have chosen to distance themselves from the network by withdrawing their advertising.
Fuji TV has firmly denied any involvement in arranging the meeting where the alleged incident took place.
