Qi Yuwu Shares Parenting Insights and Challenges on ‘Call Us Daddy’

Qi Yuwu, a celebrated figure in the entertainment industry, recently opened up about his parenting philosophy during an appearance on Allan Wu's YouTube talk show, "Call Us Daddy," released on January 24. The 48-year-old actor, alongside his wife Joanne Peh, navigates the complexities of raising their two children—a 9-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son—while maintaining a commitment to privacy and individuality.

Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh, one of the most admired showbiz couples locally, have made a conscious decision to shield their children's identities from the public eye. This decision aligns with their belief in nurturing their children's values and personal freedoms. Qi explained, "They can do whatever they like, even if there's no result," emphasizing that life should not always be about rational progression but rather about achieving inner peace and fulfillment.

Despite their fame, Qi and Joanne have never resorted to corporal punishment with their children. However, Qi candidly mentioned that there are specific circumstances where he might consider it. "I hope not to hit [them], but I told Joanne there are three situations I would hit them," he stated. These include lying, stealing, and inappropriate touching. Through these boundaries, Qi aims to instill good values while allowing his children the space to explore and learn.

Moreover, Qi Yuwu believes in the importance of politeness and respect. He encourages his children to greet others when meeting someone outside, instilling social etiquette as part of their upbringing. "They should also be polite, such as greeting others when meeting someone outside," he shared during the interview.

As a father, Qi Yuwu supports his children's potential future endeavors in the showbiz industry, should they choose that path. He remarked, "They should just be themselves. It's not a must for people to be liked by others," highlighting his desire for them to embrace their true selves rather than conform to societal expectations.

Qi Yuwu's journey to fame was never part of his original plan. Reflecting on his life today, he acknowledges the extensive effort both he and Joanne have invested in achieving recognition. This unexpected trajectory has not only shaped his career but also influenced his approach to parenting.
