Revelo, a full-stack platform specializing in vetted developers from Latin America, is experiencing significant demand from U.S. companies seeking tech talent. It seems like the demand is there, as co-founder and CEO Lucas Mendes told us. Nowhere is this truer than in the current, ever-changing landscape of artificial intelligence (AI). With over 400,000 developers on its platform, Revelo connects U.S. enterprises with skilled programmers in the same time zones, enhancing the hiring process.
Mendes and Lachlan de Crespigny launched Revelo in late 2014. Since that acquisition, the company has increased its addressable market from just Brazil to include all of Latin America. The company takes the burden of hiring developers off of U.S. clients by making the process easy. It further simplifies the billing process, cutting through what often becomes a confusing chore. Its services have become even more essential, as U.S. companies eye Latin America to provide AI-model post-training support.
In 2024, AI training hires (specifically large language models, or LLMs) represented 22% of Revelo’s revenue. Mendes emphasized the urgency of hiring skilled talent to enhance LLM capabilities: “There’s a race for data, and especially expert human data, that can actually help LLMs be better at very specific high-value tasks.” The second wave of the AI revolution has arrived! It’s looking for your feedback to continue improving AI outputs and to help lead this change in focus.
Revelo’s impressive client list features names like Intuit, Oracle, and Dell, in addition to almost every major hyperscale AI provider. The company has acquired five competitors focused on Latin American talent over the last 30 months, which Mendes notes is part of a strategic plan: “We’re building that global talent backbone for the age of AI and there will be more acquisitions in the future.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has more than doubled Revelo’s reach. This shift has pushed the firm to increase their talent pool and to better connect with a broader clientele they serve. Mendes observed that many companies initially hire one or two developers from Revelo and then express interest in expanding their teams. “So what would happen usually is that they would hire one or two and really like the quality and especially the quality cost tradeoff and say, ‘Hey, I want more of these, where do I find them?’”
Revelo allows U.S. companies to tap abroad to find experts more skilled in advanced coding languages. These experts are key to filling holes in after-the-fact AI models. Finally, companies are seeing the incredible value that highly skilled, English-speaking developers in Latin America add to the equation. Revelo is prepared to help this exploding demand directly.
