At the time, this design decision was seen as a progressive move to help promote social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Similar moves around bed designs kept coming with the organizers of Paris 2024 taking on similar cardboard designs. The current conversations around athletes’ sleeping conditions are a clear illustration of a developing culture that recognizes the significance of sleep in elite athletics.
