Sony Offers Compensation After Global PlayStation Network Outage

PlayStation Network (PSN) experienced a significant global outage that left many users unable to access their digital games or connect with friends online. The incident began on Friday evening and persisted until Saturday evening, affecting users primarily in the United States. As a result, Sony announced that they would compensate all PlayStation Plus subscribers by providing an additional five days of service.

On Saturday, Downdetector, a platform that tracks outages, showed a peak in outage reports around midday on the East Coast. Users reported difficulties in loading digital games and connecting with peers. The issue, which stemmed from an operational problem, saw a decline in reports throughout the afternoon and evening as efforts to resolve the matter continued.

The Ask PlayStation account on X confirmed the restoration of services at approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday.
