South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her residence in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16. She was 24 years old. A friend discovered her body and promptly notified the police at approximately 4:50 pm. Kim Sae-ron had intended to start anew after experiencing a turbulent year marked by personal challenges and a public scandal.
Kim Sae-ron first captured public attention as a child actress, making her debut in 2009. Her breakout role came as the daughter of actor Won Bin in "The Man from Nowhere," 2010's top-grossing film in South Korea. Her career flourished with notable roles in projects such as "The Queen's Classroom," "A Girl at My Door," and "Hi!".
In May 2022, Kim faced a significant personal setback when she was involved in a scandal. She was caught driving under the influence, resulting in a crash where she hit a guardrail and a transformer. The incident led to a hiatus from her acting career and public life. During this time, she adopted the name Kim A-im, hopeful for a fresh start.
Attempting to distance herself from the past, Kim Sae-ron worked part-time at a cafe under her new identity. Unfortunately, her efforts to maintain anonymity were thwarted when a photograph of her circulated on social media, leading to her dismissal from the job. Despite these challenges, she remained optimistic about revitalizing her career.
Her upcoming posthumous film, "Guitar Man," remains without a release date, leaving fans in anticipation. The film was expected to mark the beginning of her comeback.
