Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, will return to Malaysia on Friday after undergoing conservative treatment abroad for musculoskeletal pain. The 66-year-old monarch's health has significantly improved following the treatment, though he is expected to continue with further medical care upon his return. Sultan Ibrahim, who was originally the Sultan of Johor before ascending to kingship, had traveled abroad for treatment on February 7.
While Sultan Ibrahim received treatment for musculoskeletal issues, he has a history of health challenges, including a past polo injury to his shoulder treated in Singapore in 2018. Additionally, he experienced chest pain during exercise, which led to an angioplasty procedure at the Gleneagles Medical Centre in Singapore in 2016. These health episodes highlight the King's ongoing efforts to maintain his well-being.
During his recent travels, Sultan Ibrahim met with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim twice while the prime minister was on an official visit to Bahrain. The king granted an audience to Anwar on Wednesday, with Queen Zarith Sofiah also present. During the meeting, Anwar updated the king on national matters and inquired about his health condition.
"Thank God, the early conservative treatment appears effective, although His Majesty's condition still requires monitoring,” said Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism about Sultan Ibrahim's recovery and confirmed his impending return to Malaysia.
"His Majesty's health has significantly improved and before proceeding with further treatment, the King has decided to return home on Friday. God willing, treatment will continue, if necessary," Anwar added.
Sultan Ibrahim's decision to return signifies a positive turn in his recovery journey. This development has been met with relief and anticipation as Malaysians await his safe return and continued recovery.
