Suria FM has unveiled its latest drama production, "Hayati," in collaboration with Yaya Empire Perfume. This 40-minute drama marks a significant departure from the station's previous lighthearted festive productions by tackling the serious and timely subject of mental health. "Hayati" premiered on March 20 on Suria's official digital platforms, offering viewers a deeply emotional exploration of mental health and personal healing.
The production of "Hayati" reflects a growing awareness of mental health's importance, a topic increasingly discussed across various platforms. DJ Lin, a key figure behind the project, explained the motivation behind this new direction.
“Mental health is a very important topic that is being widely discussed on various platforms. Based on our research and observations of current trends, we felt it was time to address this issue in a meaningful way.” – DJ Lin
Filmed over seven consecutive days around Klang Valley, "Hayati" faced multiple production challenges. The shooting schedule took place predominantly between midnight and early morning, adding to the complexity of the shoot. DJ Lin highlighted some of the hurdles encountered during filming.
“The filming hours were mostly between midnight and early morning,” – DJ Lin
“We also faced unpredictable weather, with heavy rain on some nights and even a tree uprooting at one point. It was definitely a challenging shoot.” – DJ Lin
Despite these obstacles, "Hayati" boasts a diverse mix of talent, featuring Suria FM presenters alongside well-known actors such as Sherrie Merlis, Hasnul Rahmat, Anas Ridzuan, Hawra Jamalullail, and Cik Man. The cast also includes singers Ara Johari and Adam ZBP, as well as influencer Mia Azahar. This ensemble aims to create a vibrant and memorable production.
“Since this is our seventh year producing Raya dramas, we wanted to do something different – bringing together actors, influencers, singers and entrepreneurs to create a more vibrant and memorable production,” – DJ Lin
The drama's themes delve into family, emotions, loss, and love—values intrinsically linked to Hari Raya. Nadia, another pivotal figure in the production, expressed the intended impact of "Hayati" on its audience.
"I hope that the Raya drama Hayati not only entertains but also leaves a deep impact on the audience with its messages of family, emotions, loss, and love – values that are at the heart of Hari Raya." – Nadia
As Suria FM's most extensive and costly Raya drama to date, "Hayati" represents a significant investment in both financial and creative resources.
“While I can’t disclose exact figures, I can confirm that this is the biggest and most expensive Raya drama Suria FM has ever produced," – DJ Lin
