Tang Wei Reflects on Humanity and Nature During Borneo Retreat

Tang Wei, the acclaimed actress known for her breakout role in "Lust, Caution," recently took to Instagram to share insights and experiences from her visit to Borneo. The 45-year-old actress, who has captivated audiences worldwide, used this retreat to reflect on humanity's place in the natural world. Her reflections come at a time when she seeks to recharge before the bustling Chinese New Year festive season.

Tang Wei's journey to international fame began with her performance in "Lust, Caution." Her life took a significant turn when she met South Korean director Kim Tae-yong during the filming of "Late Autumn" in 2010. The couple married the following year and welcomed their daughter, Summer, in 2016. Tang Wei's trip to Borneo was a chance for her to connect with nature and share meaningful moments with her daughter.

In 2013, Tang Wei visited South Korea for a commercial shoot and maintained a close friendship with her "Late Autumn" co-star until that time. Her recent reflections on nature highlight a shift in perspective. During her Borneo visit, she described herself as feeling like a citizen of Lilliput, a reference to the tiny inhabitants of Jonathan Swift's novel "Gulliver's Travels."

"In the past, I have always said that people are also animals, but this time in Borneo, especially in front of this tree, I feel like I've become a citizen of Lilliput… Humans are not as great as we think, we aren't the masters. At most, we are observing and being observed." – Tang Wei

Tang Wei's Instagram photos capture her and Summer enjoying the lush landscapes of Borneo, offering followers a glimpse into their serene retreat. Her thoughts on humanity and nature resonate with her belief that humans are not the masters of the world but fellow inhabitants alongside other creatures.

As Tang Wei prepares for the Chinese New Year festivities, her reflections serve as a reminder of the importance of stepping back from city life and embracing nature's tranquility. Her journey to Borneo underscores her commitment to maintaining balance and perspective in a world that often demands more than it gives.
