Tesla’s Megapack Powers New Era in Japanese Energy Storage

Tesla has secured a significant role in a major energy project in Japan, as it prepares to supply its advanced Megapack storage batteries to a new facility in Maibara, located in Shiga Prefecture, central Japan. Scheduled to commence operations in 2027 or later, the facility is being developed by Orix, a prominent financial services group. The Maibara facility will feature some of the largest power storage capabilities in Japan, with Tesla delivering large-scale storage batteries boasting a combined capacity of 548 megawatt-hours. These Megapack batteries are designed to efficiently manage the region's power supply and demand fluctuations, reflecting an innovative approach to meeting the country's growing energy needs.

Demand for such power storage solutions has surged as renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, become more prevalent.
